Marius Th. Barna (7th of september 1960) is a romanian film director, screenwriter, producer, prose author and playwright. He graduated Film Directing at UNATC in 1995 with the short film Mail Life (selected at Clermont Ferrand, Montecatini and awarded at Montreal, Dresda, Saint Petersburg). His directing feature debut was Face to Face (1999, fiction, starring Maia Morgenstern, Șerban Ionescu), followed by War in the kitchen (2000, fiction, selected at Sarajevo, Sofia, Geneva), Timișoara syndrome (2004, fiction), Beyond America (2008, fiction, selected at Cairo, Viena, Moscova) and Casanova, feminine identity (2010, fiction, starring Mimi Brănescu, Maria Dinulescu). He also directed several feature documentaries like Enforced Utopia (2011), I hit, therefore I am (2016), The witch nuns (2017) and Nostalgia of Dictatorship (2020, selected at Astra Film Festival, Râșnov Film Festival). In 2004 he founded the production house called Paradox Film along with Alexandru Iclozan, with whom he produced several feature films like Frozen Ignat (2019, fiction, selected at Montreal), My sex life (2011, fiction, selected at Moscow), Humility (2010, fiction, selected at Cairo) and now he is working at his next feature film File 631.
