Laura García Pérez was born in 1992 in the municipality of Alcoi (Spain). She studied journalism, photography and specialized thanks to a master's degree in creative documentary at ESCAC. In 2019 she presented her first documentary short film "The possibility of a volcano" at DocsValència, receiving a special mention from the jury, this work was selected at other festivals such as Malaga4kfest or FICMEC. She has worked as an editor for other documentary projects such as "Maneras de vivir" or "Parir" "(Barret Films).
"I am my mother's daughter" is her first feature film. It was developed in the script workshop 'Guionistas del S.XXI' in Cuba, at EICTV in 2020 and selected in the artistic residency 'Residencias Walden' within the context of the Majordocs film festival. This project has obtained the production aid of the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC) with a score of 25/25 for the script.
She has also been selected in the laboratory of cultural and festival-focused journalism at the Seville Festival and is co-creator with Inés Calero of the non-fiction film podcast 'Docs&Talks' that was born from the desire and need to want to share, disseminate and disseminate reflections on non-fiction cinema and the spaces in which it is circulating. Thanks to this platform, she has interviewed a large number of filmmakers, participated and/or moderated in debates, and performed numerous live shows analyzing the programming of prestigious festivals.
Specialized in autobiographical cinema, she has attended various workshops such as: 'self-referential practices: research and creation of new cinematographic forms that account for our need to narrate ourselves' (EICTV) and is immersed in the co-writing of her first book that reflects about how filmmakers inquire about memory in non-fiction cinema today.
In 2022 she participated as a jury in the competitive section AMALGAMA at the La Cabina festival.
