Augusto Contento is born on January 22nd 1973 in Lanciano (Italy). Since 2000 he lives in Paris, where he creates with Giancarlo Grande the cinema production company Cineparallax. His first documentary "Onibus", wins the Best Italian Documentary Award at Bellaria Festival. The second, "Tramas", and third, "Transparent Roads", long documentaries are both selected at Locarno Film Festival and at BAFICI of Buenos Aires. Roads of Water than, is selected at Rome Film Festival and it is introduced and supported by Mme Danielle Mitterrand and Augusto becomes the first director to get the Worldwide Patronage for a Movie by UNESCO. His sixth movie, Parallax Sounds wins the UCCA Award at Turin Film Festival and is selected at Reykjavik International Film Festival and at Indie Lisbõa. Red Ashes, in collaboration with famous critic Adriano Aprà, is selected in 2014 at Locarno Film Festival, Tokyo Film Festival, JeonJu Film Festival, Indie Lisboa, Viennale, and many other festivals. In 2015 he starts the shootings of The Star Above the Mill, and in 2017 he finishes Shadowgram, about the Chicago African American Community. The movie gets the UNESCO Worldwide Patronage-The Route of Slave for its intense research on the African American Heritage and Community.
