MANpaCHITRA was founded in 2021, shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic, by a group of passionate film students and faculty members from the Department of Film and Media Studies at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University. What began as a collective desire to explore filmmaking soon transformed into a production initiative. Their first short film, developed and produced collaboratively, was acquired by a local streaming platform in Bangladesh—an early success that inspired further ventures.
Over the past three years, MANpaCHITRA has grown into a dynamic production house, creating a range of short films, features, and series for both local and international audiences. The group remains committed to supporting emerging filmmakers with bold ideas and original voices. As a collective rooted in academic practice, its members embrace a continual process of experimentation and learning. This trial-and-error approach, driven by curiosity and innovation, has become central to their identity.
MANpaCHITRA operates as a collaborative community of filmmakers—directors, producers, cast, and crew—rather than being reliant on any single individual. The collective draws on a diverse mix of cultures, languages, and social backgrounds, with members from various regions of Bangladesh. Increasingly, filmmakers from outside the founding group are also joining its projects, adding to the house’s creative diversity and broadening its cinematic perspective.
The core philosophy of MANpaCHITRA is to foster a space for freedom of thought and independent artistic expression. It is steadily evolving into a platform for young and independent filmmakers to develop their voices and challenge conventions. Though registered in Dhaka, most of the group’s creative development and production take place in Trishal, Mymensingh—about 100 kilometers from the capital—where the university campus serves as a central hub.
MANpaCHITRA is driven by a vision of bridging local stories and global conversations. With a growing portfolio and a commitment to creative integrity, the collective aims to bring Bangladeshi filmmaking to the world stage through a meaningful blend of local insight and international collaboration.
We are a collective of passionate filmmakers, producers, and storytellers dedicated to creating powerful and meaningful cinema through collaboration and creativity.
