Paul and Anna live an apparently happy and successful life. But when their son inexplicably falls ill, the facade of a seemingly happy family life crumbles completely, like brittle porcelain that can no longer be glued.
Anna and Paul live together with their eight-year-old son Thomas on the top floor of a modern apartment building, with a breathtaking view of the city. They are literally and figuratively at the top of the social ladder. Businessman Paul has created a beacon of safety for his family, full of material wealth. His wife Anna is a preeminent expert in the restauration of porcelain, and is held in high esteem. But when their son Thomas falls inexplicably ill, the first cracks appear in their seemingly perfect lives. As Paul stubbornly tries to cling to some semblance of control, the world he has so carefully constructed, starts to collapse around them.
